If your vehicle is more than 3 years old, it is a legal requirement for you to have it MOT tested every 12 months. An MOT will ensure your vehicle is in a roadworthy condition, safe for you, your passengers and other road users.

If your vehicle fails its MOT, but your current MOT certificate is still valid, you can still drive it as long as there are no major faults that are classified as “dangerous”. If there are, you will not be able to drive your vehicle until those issues are fixed.
In either instance, if your vehicle fails its MOT, you will need to arrange for your vehicle to be repaired and retested.
